Six Air BnB guests were robbed at gunpoint at a Joshua Tree Air BnB. Investigators say deputies responded to an Air BnB in the 65500 block of Twentynine Palms Highway Tuesday (May 11) at 7:22 p.m. for a report of a man with a gun at the location. Arriving deputies learned that Christopher Arrellano-Casas, 26, of Joshua Tree had entered the location with a rifle and ordered the six guests to the ground at gunpoint and stole thousands of dollars of personal property. Arrellano-Casas fled the location with Valeria Casas, 44, of Yucca Valley, in a blue SUV. The guests were able to escape to safety. Deputies searched the area extensively for leads. Wednesday morning (May 12), at 2:41 a.m., deputies located the blue Subaru SUV being driven by Arrellano-Casas as they fled from deputies, driving recklessly through the desert areas of Joshua Tree and Landers. Arrellano-Casas crashed the vehicle near Moon Drive and Border Avenue in Landers and both suspects fled into the desert. Valeria Casas was located and taken into custody without incident. A Sheriff’s helicopter, SWAT officers, and a CHP K-9 unit, located and detained Arrellano-Casas. Detectives recovered several items of stolen property during their investigation. Christopher Arrellano-Casas and Valeria Casas were arrested for investigation of residential robbery and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with their bails set at $200,000.
