TWENTYNINE PALMS WOMAN SEVERELY INJURED IN HIT-AND-RUN CRASH EARLY SATURDAY

A Twentynine Palms woman sustained major injuries following a hit-and-run crash on Highway 62 early Saturday morning (July 3). According to a CHP press release, Natasha Starner, 32, was walking along the shoulder of eastbound Highway 62 around 4 a.m. near the top of the Morongo grade after her vehicle ran out of gas. She was struck by a passing vehicle, causing her major injuries. The vehicle did not stop and the woman was left unconscious on the side of the road until she was discovered by family members. Her family transported her to Hi Desert Medical Center where she was treated for her injuries. A passenger side mirror was recovered at the scene, which investigators believe belongs to a 2014 Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck or SUV. The incident is under investigation.
