Twentynine Palms Lifeguard Certification Course open for registration

The City of Twentynine Palms Parks & Recreation Department has announced that registration is now open for its upcoming Lifeguard Certification Course, giving participants the opportunity to gain lifesaving skills, earn an official certification, and potentially join the Luckie Park Pool team this summer.
The course will include online coursework that must be completed prior to the first day of class, followed by three days of in-person training at the Luckie Park Pool on April 1–3. The program is open to individuals ages 15 and older who meet the required swimming proficiency standards. Participants will learn essential lifesaving techniques including water rescue skills, CPR, first aid, and emergency response, preparing them with the knowledge and confidence needed to respond to aquatic emergencies.
Before registering for the course, all participants must successfully complete a prerequisite swim test, which includes swimming 150 yards continuously, treading water for 2 minutes using only the legs, and then swimming an additional 50 yards. A timed brick retrieval event will conclude the prerequisite.

Swim tests are by appointment only and can be scheduled by contacting the Parks & Recreation Office. After successfully passing the swim test, individuals may register online for the course. Registration fees are $200 for new students and $100 for recertification.
Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a two-year American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and will have the opportunity to apply for a summer lifeguard position at Luckie Park Pool.
