TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL MEETS TONIGHT: WATER BOARD MEETING, HIRING ON THE AGENDA

A potential discussion with the Water District and hiring a Community Development Director are among the items before the Twentynine Palms City Council. Reporter Dan Stork previews those items and the rest of the agenda…
The first scheduled discussion of the Twentynine Palms City Council at its May 27 meeting is how to respond to the request of the Twentynine Palms Water District Board for a joint meeting later in June. The Water District wants to discuss (again) financial assistance by the City for the Fire Department. After that, staff will present four bids that have been received for a part-time (20 hours per week) Community Development Director. Rates in the bids range from $90 to $130 per hour. In other business, the Council will designate a delegate and alternative for the League of California Cities Annual Conference, and will discuss the second draft budget for fiscal year 2014-2015. Of note on the consent agenda: the contract with the Sheriff’s Department for police services in the next fiscal year comes to a little over $3 million. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at City Hall on Adobe Road.
