TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO WEAPONS ARREST

Deputies Saturday arrested a convicted felon for being in possession of a rifle and ammunition. Deputies received a call just before 8 a.m. Saturday about a car that matched the description of a vehicle seen during a suspected kidnapping that had been posted on Facebook the night before. Deputies searched their records and did not find any call had been made to the Sheriff’s Department about a kidnapping anywhere in the Morongo Basin. But deputies followed up on the call of the suspicious vehicle, and located it near Buena Vista Drive and Indio Avenue in Yucca Valley. Inside the car was Jeremy Harper, 34, who is on felony probation. During a search of the vehicle, deputies found a .22-caliber rifle and ammunition. Jeremy Harper was arrested for investigation of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and on several warrants. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $50,000.
