Theatre 29 to hold auditions for “Fortressed”

Theatre 29 and Sharianne Greer, the author and director for the original play “Fortressed”, are holding auditions to complete casting for the June production.

Set in a small mythical medieval village known as Bromleyshire, “Fortressed” follows Lord Bromley and Lady Magdelena as their starving village descends into riot. Ill-equipped to lead, Bromley raids a neighboring Dukedom while ignoring the deeper causes of unrest. When the Duke arrives with exploitative demands, the couple scrambles for solutions, turning to increasingly desperate and unconventional methods. Blending heightened language with biting satire, “Fortressed” examines privilege, power, and the willful blindness that fuels inequality.

While the three male roles have been cast, auditions for the three female roles will be held Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 6:00pm at Theatre 29, 73637 Sullivan Road in Twentynine Palms. Greer is also looking for anyone with special skills like juggling, mime, magic or other Renaissance Faire type street performers for pre show activities. Acting auditions will consist of cold reading. Be prepared to attempt a British accent, (totally ok if not perfect!).

Additionally, she is looking for a technical crew for those who are interested in all aspects of technical work: Properties, Sound and Lighting, Backstage, Audio engineering, Costume, Makeup and Hair as well as set builders. Anyone with special skills or interested in this should come to auditions as well.  Performances will be from June 12 -28. Tickets are on sale now at theatre29.org

“Fortressed” is being produced with grant funding from Visit 29
