Suspected Twentynine Palms Shooter Arrested After Showing Up For Previous Court Date

The suspect in a Twentynine Palms attempted murder that resulted in Palm Vista Elementary School’s “Shelter in Place” order was arrested after reporting to a court hearing for a previous crime. According to a Sheriff’s report, Pejman Elahi, a 39 year-old resident of Wonder Valley, shot an unidentified victim several times on Wednesday morning (November 10) in the area of Sunset Drive and North Star Ave in Twentynine Palms.

The shooting, which was reported at around 10 a.m., was initially believed to be near Palm Vista Elementary, and as a precautionary measure. the school was put under a “Shelter in Place” order, which restricts people from entering or leaving the campus.

Morongo Basin EMS responded to the incident and treated the 38 year-old male victim, who was suffering from three gunshot wounds. The victim was flown to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he is currently in stable condition.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division searched Elahi’s residence, but were unable to locate him. They reported that, on Thursday (November 10), Elahi arrived at the Joshua Tree Courthouse for a scheduled court appearance for an unrelated incident. He was taken into custody after making his court appointment. Elahi is a convicted felon and was most recently arrested in September for suspicion of Assault, in an incident where he is alleged to have chased a truck through Wonder Valley on quad runner while wielding an assault rifle.

Pejman Elahi was arrested for suspicion of Attempted Murder and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail.
