STATE SENATOR FULLER NAMED LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR

Senate Republican Leader Jean Fuller, who represents the Morongo Basin, was honored last week as the Outstanding Legislator of the Year by the California School Boards Association. The Morongo Unified School District nominated Fuller for the award based on her years of dedicated public service and commitment to education. Prior to becoming a senator, Fuller was a school superintendent, principal, and teacher. Morongo Unified School District Superintendent Tom Baumgarten and board member L. Hilary Slotta, who wrote the nomination, were present for the awards ceremony. In addition, Fuller was given a decorative award of a Joshua tree created  by Twentynine Palms Junior High School artist Rion Ammerman. The award was selected from more than 30 pieces submitted for the award by school districts.
