SMALL VEHICLE FIRE CLOSES HIGHWAY IN MORONGO VALLEY

Morongo Valley firefighters responded to a small vehicle fire about 10:30 Wednesday morning. According to Fire Captain Mark Murphy, two women were driving east on Highway 62 near Big Morongo Canyon when the engine of their 2000 Toyota Camry caught on fire in the number 2 lane. Firefighters closed the highway for about 10 to 15 minutes.
