Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a case of fraud and forged checks at the Copper Mountain College Foundation. The Foundation reported Monday morning that six fraudulent checks, totaling $4,083.23, had been written on the Foundation’s checking account. Copper Mountain College Foundation Executive Director Sandy Smith told Z107.7 News that the checks were counterfeit checks that were cashed in Orange County and that the Foundation still has the genuine checks in its checkbook. Anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
