CMC EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR HOWL PUBLICATION

The Copper Mountain College Foundation is extending the deadline for submissions in the 2021/2022 HOWL publication to February 22, 2022. Students and community members alike are welcome to submit an original work of poetry, short fiction, photography, and digital images of artwork for the publication. Submission forms are available in the Greenleaf Library.

ANNUAL ‘FESTIVAL OF WREATHS’ AUCTION TOMORROW

A tradition that began in 1982, the annual Festival of Wreaths is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Copper Mountain College Foundation, the non-profit organization that provides support to the college.

Elaborate wreaths, centerpieces and ornaments are created by local businesses, service clubs and creative individuals which are then auctioned off to raise funds for CMC students. Some creations may also include gift cards, jewelry, hotel stays and cash.

The wreaths are displayed across town before they face the auction block at the Bell Center Gymnasium on campus, 6162 Rotary Way, in Joshua Tree, on Sunday, November 21. To see some of the items up for auction, look for the link in this story:

Doors open at 2:00 p.m. and the bidding begins at 3:00 p.m.  Appetizers, drinks and dessert will be served. Tickets are $10 at the door. For more info, contact the CMC Foundation at 760-366-3791 ext. 4200.

COPPER MOUNTAIN COLLEGE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SCHOLARSHIP IN HONOR OF SEARGEANT DOMINIC VACA

The Sergeant Dominic Vaca Memorial Scholarship is currently available for Criminal Justice majors at Copper Mountain College with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Applications are due September 15 and recipients will be named September 30. To download an application, make a donation towards the scholarship, or for more information on the program, see the instructions below. Sergeant Dominic Vaca, a 17-year veteran of the Sheriff’s department, was shot and killed in May while pursuing a suspect through Yucca Valley.
