“Several small fires” in the Twentynine Palms Motel 6 results in suspected arson arrest

A man was arrested on suspicion of arson after allegedly starting several small fires inside a room at a Twentynine Palms Hotel.
Early Monday morning (August 25) at around 5 a.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a fire at the Motel 6 on Twentynine Palms Highway in Twentynine Palms. Deputies say that Michael Mandarino, 33, started several small fires in his hotel room. Deputies say that the fires burned themselves out, and there were no injuries or structural damage. Mandarino was taken into custody without incident.
Michael Mandarino was arrested on suspicion of arson and vandalism, and is being held at the West Valley Detention Center on $80,000 bail.
