Second Saturday Art Walk tonight in Joshua Tree

Tonight (July 12) is the second-Saturday Joshua Tree Art Walk, with local galleries holding their opening receptions for the month of July. Reporter Gabriel Hart gives us the highlights for the gallery shows on our radar.

Coyote Little presents Mojave Visions featuring local artists Anna Stump, Daphne Hill, and Xenia Y. Smith, whose works explore themes of flowers, homestead cabins, and nostalgia, all work capturing the vibrant energy of summer. The show will also feature live painting by Kait Vicious and live music from 6:00-9:00 p.m. by Sahil Bali, Tracy Warren, and Brad Byrd.

La Matadora presents Defiled, part 11, an altered thrift art group show, opening reception from 6:00-9:00 p.m. With an “unsound bath” by Georgia Van Tasshole at 7:30, and music at 8:00 by Casino Space Travel.

Hey There Projects presents “Stinkers Class of 2025,” featuring stickers, zines, books, and art by over thirty artists. Opening reception from 6:00-9:00 p.m. with ice cream and treats. 

Gabriel Hart

Gabriel Hart is an author and journalist from Morongo Valley, CA. He was a finalist for the 2024 Golden Mic Awards for his continuous reporting on the Morongo Valley Community Services District. His punk-noir novel On High at Red Tide is out now from Pig Roast Publishing, and he's the editor-in-chief/publisher of Beyond the Last Estate, a print-only magazine featuring "creative reporting on contemporary literature."
