SCHOOL SUPERINTENDANT ENGLISH FORMALLY RESIGNS HER POSITION

Last Friday, the Board of Education of the Morongo Unified School District held another special meeting. On Tuesday, Acting Superintendent Tom Baumgarten wrote a release about that meeting. Dan Stork says it formalizes the departure of Superintendent Dr. Cecelia English…
We asked Acting Superintendent Tom Baumgarten whether any actions came out of the closed session meeting of the MUSD Board of Education on June 27. In reply, he sent out a release which said the following: “The Board of Education took action to accept the resignation of the Superintendent.” Additionally, a joint statement concerning superintendent’s resignation was released: “The Board … and Dr. Cecelia English announce that Dr. English has voluntarily requested to resign from her position as Superintendent, to pursue other opportunities. Both the Board and Dr. English wish to advise the District’s parents, staff and the public that Dr. English’s resignation was not prompted by any finding of wrongdoing on her part.”
Baumgarten told us that financial terms of Dr. English’s separation have not been announced, but will be available to the public when the relevant document has been completed. He also said that the Board has not yet addressed the issue of a permanent successor to the Superintendent position.
