San Bernardino County Board to look at remote meeting options for communities like Joshua Tree

The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors meets in regular session Tuesday morning (May 5).

The Board will receive a presentation on their implementation of remote public participation for Board meetings as they relate to new state requirements. California State Senate Bill 707 requires that all governing make additional efforts to provide two-platforms for the public to attend meetings remotely. As San Bernardino is the largest geographical county in the United States, remote attendance has been an issue for the Board.

Here in the Morongo Basin, remote attendance opportunities for local residents have been inconsistently available and in the last year, provided only on a case-by-case basis. The new state legislation requires that local governing agencies take additional actions to provide remote attendance opportunities by July 1.

The Board is expected to adopt a plan to promote remote attendance via social media, informational handouts, advertising, and outreach events.

The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors meets in regular session Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at their Chambers at the County Government Center, located at 385 North Arrowhead Avenue in San Bernardino.
