TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO SEVEN ENDANGERED CHILDREN

A routine traffic stop in Twentynine Palms led to an arrest of a woman for felony child neglect. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies stopped a vehicle about 8:30 Saturday evening near Hatch and Morongo Roads. A routine records check found that the driver, Arsenio Jones, 26, of Twentynine Palms, was on felony probation for a narcotics offense, and was driving on a suspended license. The passenger, Brandon Brown, 31, had a warrant for his arrest. Deputies then went to Jones’ home in the 72600 block of Foothill Drive in Twentynine Palms to conduct a probation search. At the home were Danielle Reid, 31, and her seven children. Deputies determined the home was filthy and uninhabitable, with water on the floor from blocked plumbing, animal feces on the bedroom floor where everyone slept, virtually no food in the house, a cockroach infestation, and large rats in the garage. Danielle Reid and Arsenio Jones were arrested for felony child neglect, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with their bail set at $100,000. Arsenio Jones was also arrested on his no-bail warrants. Brandon Brown was arrested for his $25,000 warrant and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail. The children were taken by Child Protective Services.
