“Roaming the Desert” television special on Morongo Basin this Sunday on NBC Palm Springs

There will be a 30-minute television news special about the Morongo Basin debuting this Sunday on NBC Palm Springs. The special features new interviews with locals, businesses, and artists in the hi-desert, including Z107.7’s own Morning Show Host and News Director Jef Harmatz.

The producer of the special Heath Cunningham was a guest on the Z107.7 Morning Show, and he spoke with Cody and Jef about how the special was made.

Heath Cunningham: “We were going to just go to Joshua Tree National Park and shoot some stuff around there, but the special really bloomed into this gorgeous sort love letter to the hi-desert, because we went everywhere and we talked to everybody.

“We really wanted to show a lot of the local spots. We had to touch on some of the touristy places, some places that everybody goes. But we really wanted to try to focus on a lot of these super cool local spots that a lot of people may not know about and highlight these people’s stories. Because I think there’s a lot of people around here that have very unique and wonderful stories. And this is such a beautiful place. It’s weird. It’s wonderful. It’s colorful. It’s fantastic. We wanted to highlight that as best we can.”

You can see the special live on NBC Palm Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 24. You can also see the unedited version on their website after it airs live: https://www.nbcpalmsprings.com/roaming-the-desert
