Two people who were interrupted while trying to steal a vehicle were arrested on drug charges. According to a Sheriff’s report, when residents in the 7100 block of Sage Avenue in Yucca Valley interrupted a man and woman who were trying to steal their vehicle just before 2 a.m., the suspects fled in a black Mustang. The couple notified the Sheriff’s Department, and a deputy stopped a black Mustang near Sunnyslope and Sage Avenue about 2:15 a.m. Inside the car were Antonio Martinez, 28, of Phelan, and Somer Caldwell, 31, of Yucca Valley. Both suspects were found with drug paraphernalia and methamphetamines. Antonio Martinez was arrested for investigation of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, and on no-bail warrants for burglary and revocation of his probation. Martinez was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail and is being held without bail. Somer Caldwell was arrested for investigation of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, cited, and released.
