Red Light Lit brings poetry, prose and dance to The Palms tonight (6/15)

With emphasis on poetry and prose, the traveling multimedia variety show Red Light Lit will make its latest stop at The Palms in Wonder Valley tonight.

Hosted by author Jennifer Lewis, Red Light Lit fuses literary reading with live musical accompaniment with interpretive dancing. 

For this Saturday’s lineup, traveling readers include Holly Hardy from Austin, Texas; Natasha Dennerstein from San Francisco, and Emily Jon Tobias from Orange County. Local readers include musician, actor, and Palms bartender Kevin Bone, ShaWanda Gatson, Joanna Szachowska, Anna Tyson, and Susan Rukeyser.

Readings will be accompanied by live improvisational score by drummer Dan Thomas and DW on guitar, with dancing by Lauren Slivosky and Jenn Henry.

Matthew Stevenson and Landroid will be the musical guests after the readings. 

Tickets are available for $10 at the door, show begins at 7 PM.

Gabriel Hart is an author and journalist from Morongo Valley, CA. He was a finalist for the 2024 Golden Mic Awards for his continuous reporting on the Morongo Valley Community Services District. His punk-noir novel On High at Red Tide is out now from Pig Roast Publishing, and he's the editor-in-chief/publisher of Beyond the Last Estate, a print-only magazine featuring "creative reporting on contemporary literature."
