Morongo Valley’s Geeson Field gets upgrades thanks to community members and local businesses

Geeson Field, home of the Morongo Valley Youth Softball League (MVYSL) , has recently gotten a makeover thanks to the generosity of local businesses. Reporter Gabriel Hart spoke to Buddy Stogner of the MVYSL about the improvements and who was behind the community kindness.

Because the Morongo Valley Youth Softball League is volunteer run, they rely not only on sponsors but also the support of donations from families and local businesses for occasional improvements to the facilities. With recent upgrades to the field, the irrigation system, and new paint and A/C in the snack bar, Buddy Stogner says they are ready for the upcoming fall season.

“We got new clay for the infields, and we spread that out. We’ve redone all the sprinklers. We’ve rehabbed the snack bar, and we got a lot of community support on that. We’re looking forward to a really good season. Practices started this week and the first game is September 19th, we’re ready to do this!” said Stogner.

In typical Morongo Valley fashion, a long list of local donors helped Buddy and his wife Tammy contribute to the field’s fresh new functionality: Community members include Glen Shepherd, Ray Sessum, TJ Kendrick, Jesse Pasos, AJ Moraldy, and Jerry and Leslie Fisher, while local businesses like Rapid Dry, SoCal West Coast Electric, Whitewater Rock and Supply Company, Home Depot, Fisher Plumbing, GM Window, Romo Construction, Just A Small Town Grill, and the Morongo Valley CSD all threw in for local athletic youth.
