
A Pioneertown felon was arrested Thursday after Sheriff’s investigators found more than 30 firearms and several thousand rounds of various caliber ammunition during the service of a search warrant. Detectives from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station served a search warrant at a residence in the 54400 block of Pipes Canyon Road in Pioneertown around 11 a.m. Thursday. The search warrant was related to a burglary investigation and stolen property. Detectives identified Justin Channell, 34, as a suspect in the burglary and located him at the residence after the search warrant service. Channell is a convicted felon and is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms and ammunition. Justin Channell was arrested for investigation of burglary, being a felon in possession of firearms, and being a felon in possession of ammunition, and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
