PICKUP ROLLOVER IN JOSHUA TREE LEADS TO TWO ARRESTS

Two people were arrested Sunday, accused of being in possession of drugs, a stolen vehicle, and a loaded handgun. Just before 11 a.m., deputies were called to Highway 62 and Sunny Vista Road in Joshua Tree where it appeared a Ford Ranger pick-up truck had rolled over. Inside the truck was Toni Cagle, 33, of Joshua Tree. A records check showed the truck had been reported stolen, at which time Cagle said she had gotten the truck from John Powers, 27, of Yucca Valley. During a search of the truck, the deputy found what appeared to be methamphetamine, heroin, a loaded firearm, drug paraphernalia, and stolen property. Toni Cagle was arrested for investigation of being a felon in possession of a firearm and being in possession of stolen property, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with her bail set at $50,000. John Powers was located about 3:30 p.m. at Tortoise Rock Casino in Twentynine Palms, arrested for investigation of receiving stolen property and violating the terms of his post-release community supervision. Powers was booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $50,000.
