The Morongo Unified School District Board of Trustees will meet tonight at Joshua Tree Elementary School with closed session beginning at 6:30 and open session beginning at 7:00 p.m. During closed session, the board will conference with legal council, in addition to holding labor negotiations with the Morongo Teachers Association and the California School Employees Association.
During open session, the board will hold a public hearing to receive and consider input regarding the adjustment of trustee area boundaries. These changes are the result of demographic changes recorded in district during the 2020 census. Questions and comments can be directed to Superintendent Doug Weller at (760) 367-9191 ext. 4221, or you can email your comments to [email protected]. You can find more information, including an interactive map of trustee areas, on the district website at: <http://www.morongousd.com/TrusteeAreas.aspx>.
The trustees will also hear a presentation of the 2021 Annual Financial Audit. Later in the meeting, the board will vote to approve the adjusted trustee areas, as well as voting to reject all bids for the Twentynine Palms High School Stadium Improvements project because the project was over budget.
