A Morongo Valley man was arrested Tuesday after he was found with drugs and a loaded weapon. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies were called to assist a Desert Hot Springs police officer in serving a domestic violence restraining order at a home in the 71500 block of Florida Drive in Twentynine Palms about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday. While conducting a safety sweep of the home, the deputy found a 9mm handgun in a closet in the master bedroom. After the deputy obtained a search warrant for the home, a loaded gun magazine, methamphetamine, scale, and drug packaging were also found. In the home was Shawn Dix, 33, who admitted to the deputy that the gun was his. Shawn Dix was arrested for investigation of being a felon in possession of a firearm, being in possession of a firearm with dangerous drugs, and possession of methamphetamine for sales. Dix was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
