Get ready for possible delays going down the Yucca Grade for the rest of the year. Two years ago, CalTrans installed temporary delineators between east- and westbound lanes on Highway 62 in Morongo Valley to reduce the number of head-on crashes. The project has been deemed a success, and starting Monday, July 24, CalTrans will replace the temporary delineators with permanent raised curb medians between East Drive and Yucca Park Road. In addition, the highway will be restriped for left-turn lanes, and a traffic signal will be added at Bella Vista Drive. Eastbound lanes will be reduced to one lane between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.; westbound lanes will be reduced to one lane from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The project is expected to be complete by the end of 2017.
