Landers man arrested after girlfriend flees suspected threats and assault

A Landers man on post-release supervision was arrested for suspected criminal threats to his girlfriend.

On Friday, September 12, at around 9:30 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of assault. Deputies say that the victim was threatened by her boyfriend. They say she fled from his home in the 1700 block of Deer Trail in Landers, running to the fire station on Jess Boulevard where she called the Sheriff’s Department. The victim told deputies that her boyfriend, Robert Jennings Jr, 41, physically assaulted her and threatened to choke her.

Deputies contacted Jennings at the home on Deer Trail where he was taken into custody. Jennings was found to be a felon convicted of drug and weapons charges. A search of the home found ammunition which is illegal for a felon to possess.

Robert Jennings, Jr. was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats and violating post-release supervision and is being held at the West Valley Detention Center without bail.
