The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan basketball team opened their Desert Valley League home schedule with a 62-9 win over Desert Hot Springs Friday (December 10) night in Trojan Gym. Despite some cold first-half shooting the Lady Trojans held a 39-6 halftime lead as they moved their league record to 2-0 and overall record to 7-3. Senior Maliah Rodriguez hit 5 first-half three-point baskets on her way to a game-high 19 points. Sophomore Cadence Tarrant was solid with 15 points and junior Malia Ulery added 14 points. Senior Heather Hiday chipped in 7 points. The team returns to action next week at Desert Mirage on Wednesday (December 15) at 4:30 p.m. then Thursday (December 16) in Trojan Gym versus Coachella Valley at 6 p.m.
