A Joshua Tree man was arrested Tuesday after he was accused of walking around his home with a loaded handgun while high on drugs. Just before 9 a.m., a woman called deputies to the 7200 block of Demesne Road in Joshua Tree because Gilbert Hernandez, 39, was walking around with a loaded Glock pistol and she suspected he was high on methamphetamine, as he wasn’t making sense when he talked. The woman said there were three children inside the home with Hernandez; she was able to persuade the two older children to leave, but the 8-year-old refused to leave the house. When deputies arrived, Gilbert Hernandez was arrested for investigation of being in possession of a loaded handgun while under the influence of a controlled substance, booked into West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $50,000.
