A Joshua Tree man was arrested Saturday after deputies found a handgun and ammunition, drugs, and cash in his possession. About 8:50 p.m., deputies made a traffic stop on a vehicle, driven by Brian Watson, 47, on Highway 62 and Dumosa Avenue in Yucca Valley. According to deputies, Watson tried to destroy physical evidence. Deputies searched the vehicle and found a .22-caliber semi-automatic handgun, two loaded magazines, methamphetamine packaged for sales, and more than $300 in cash. Watson is a convicted felon and is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms or ammo. Brian Watson was arrested for investigation of being a felon in possession of firearms, and possession of a controlled substance, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $50,000.
