A Joshua Tree man was arrested Tuesday afternoon, accused of being a felon in possession of a firearm. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy stopped James Lane, 38, who was walking near Sun Valley Drive and Bagley Avenue about 5 p.m. The deputy states that Lane initially gave him a false name, but the deputy later determined his true name and discovered Lane was on felony probation for a 2010 conviction of vehicle theft. During a probation search, the deputy found a loaded firearm in Lane’s possession. James Lane was arrested for investigation of being a felon in possession of a firearm, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $25,000.
