The blue outdoor mailbox at the Joshua Tree Post Office was stolen sometime Sunday night. Residents notified postal employees Monday morning that the box had been stolen. An unknown suspect used a torch to cut off the legs of the mailbox, which was bolted to a concrete pad. Residents who want to mail letters and cards at the post office must bring them inside and deposit them in the boxes inside the lobby. Postal officials remind residents not to mail cash.
Packages are still arriving by the thousands at the Joshua Tree Post Office. If you have gotten a pink slip notifying you that a package is waiting to be picked up, please go and get the package as soon as possible. Employees will be handing out packages to Joshua Tree residents until 8 p.m. tonight.
