Joshua Basin Water District meet Wednesday (10/7) to continue septic-to-sewer discussion

In August, Third District Supervisor and San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors Chair Dawn Rowe sent the Joshua Basin Water District (JBWD) a letter. Inside it had one request: that the JBWD Board of Directors adopt a resolution that either supports or opposes the County’s $6.3 million sewer system feasibility exploration project.

Supervisor Rowe stated in a subsequent letter that JBWD board President Stacy Doolittle and Vice President David Fick have used social media to make public statements undermining the county’s planning efforts, including what she says are “inaccurate or misleading statements as to the County’s actions, intentions, and status of the project.”

The Joshua Basin Water District held a special meeting on October 28 to discuss the possible resolution, as well as receive a report on nitrate levels in JBWD wells. They are expected to continue the discussion on the requested resolution, as well as discuss compensation for the current General Manager Pro-Tem Anne Roman. Roman is the current Director of Finance for the water district, and she stepped in as a General Manager Pro Tem for the current General Manager Sarah Johnson, who is on an undescribed leave of absence.

The Board of Directors meets this Wednesday, October 7th at 5:00 p.m. It takes place at their offices at 61750 Chollita Road in Joshua Tree.

The public is invited to the meeting, and can make public comments on anything on or off the agenda.
