Johnson Valley Shared Use Area reopens after Marine Training ends

Trails and roads lead into varied landscapes in the 96,000 acres of OHV land in Johnson Valley

The Johnson Valley Shared Use Area is now open to the public and ready for your off-road and other adventures. The Marine Corps occasionally closes the area for training exercises.

A statement from the Marine Corps says that they appreciate the community’s support during the closures, and that their exercises “help ensure our Marines are prepared for any mission, anywhere in the world.”

Additional closures are scheduled for August 14 and February 12, 2026.
