The Twentynine Palms Wildcats golf team hosted the Yucca Valley Trojans in the first league contest of the season on Thursday. In an exciting and hard-fought match, the Wildcats came away with the victory with a score of 255 to 261. The match was up in the air until the last scorecard was counted. Coach Gary Bell said matches with Yucca Valley always generate a lot of anticipation; the golfers have been practicing for months leading up to this game, and he’s proud of the way they performed under the pressure. Low scores for the Wildcats was Justin Delarosa shooting 41 and Andrew Dyer with a 51.
Coming up in high school sports tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat baseball, softball and track teams will all be traveling away. The Wildcat baseball team will play Arrowhead Christian Academy in a double header starting at 10 a.m. The Ladycat softball team will play Xavier College Prep in a doubleheader, starting at 10 a.m. And the track team will travel to Palm Desert for the Aztec Invitational.
The Yucca Valley High School Trojan swim team will travel to Lake Elsinore tomorrow; the meet begins at 9 a.m.
