Meeting Cancelled: Friendly Hills Elementary to be recognized as a 2025 California Distinguished School

Update from the Morongo Unified School District:
Due to the severe storms that impacted our community yesterday, the MUSD Board of Education has decided to postpone its scheduled meeting until next Tuesday (9/2). This postponement allows our staff time to continue focusing on assessing road conditions, addressing facility needs and ensuring that our schools are safe and fully operational.
We recognize that rescheduling may cause some inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience and understanding. Thank you for your continued support.
Previously Reported:
The Morongo Unified School District Board of Trustees will hold their first meeting of the 2025-26 school year tonight at Joshua Tree Elementary at 6:00 p.m.
For the meeting’s agenda, Friendly Hills Elementary will be recognized as a 2025 California Distinguished School, a component of the California Department of Education recognizing schools that demonstrate exemplary achievements. There will be policy updates to sex discrimination and sex-based harassment, as well as before/after school programs. Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Stacy Smalling will give recommendations for certificated and classified personnel. Various donations and grants will be announced, including a $3500 grant from Mojave Water Agency towards Yucca Valley Elementary’s Outdoor Classroom Project.
There will be authorization for two architectural services at Twentynine Palms Junior High for a relocatable restroom and new administration building. As Davis Daniels replaces Sharon Flores for Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, it is recommended that the Board of Education approve the County Form 6 addressing delegation/removal of authority and update the official custodian of the revolving cash fund from Flores to Daniels.
