The Morongo Basin Healthcare District has approved spending up to $500,000 for local hunger relief due to COVID-19. Food boxes will be distributed to the general public at two “no-contact-drive-through” events TOMORROW, Saturday, June 20. Just drive up, open the trunk, they’ll fill it, and drive away. The food boxes weigh about 50 pounds and contain non-perishable food items; included is a $25 gift card for the purchase of perishable food items, toiletries, etc. Distribution is limited to individuals or families in vehicles; one box per vehicle. Distribution begins at 8 a.m. and continues until supplies are gone.
In Yucca Valley, food will be distributed at the Morongo Basin Community Health Center, 58375 29 Palms Highway at the corner of Prescott Avenue and Highway 62.
In Twentynine Palms, the distribution is at the Morongo Basin Community Health Center at Split Rock, 6380 Split Rock Avenue. (Please enter the clinic via El Paseo, heading south onto Split Rock Avenue; they are not allowing left turns off of Split Rock into the clinic parking lot for this event to not clog up the highway and AM/PM entrances.
