FELON FOUND WITH STOLEN HANDGUN

A suspect in a stolen vehicle case was arrested Monday after he was found with a stolen firearm. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy was investigating a vehicle that had been stolen from an area near Lear Avenue and Mesa Verde Road in Twentynine Palms. During the investigation, Jeremy Shannon, 25, emerged as a suspect. The deputy contacted Shannon in the 71000 block of Indian Trail in Twentynine Palms about 9 p.m., and discovered that Shannon, who was wearing a bullet-proof vest, had multiple rounds of ammunition in his possession, as well as multiple stolen credit cards and drivers’ licenses. Inside Shannon’s backpack the deputy found a stolen .380-caliber handgun. Jeremy Shannon was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
