FELON FOUND WITH A GUN IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

A convicted felon was arrested Monday following a probation compliance check in Twentynine Palms. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy went to a business in the 4800 block of Adobe Road to perform a probation compliance check on Matthew Sins, 24. As the deputy arrived, Sins walked into a back room of the business. When the deputy asked if Sins had any contraband, Sins allegedly pulled out drug paraphernalia and drugs. The deputy walked into the back room and found a loaded handgun inside a trash can; Sins allegedly said the gun belonged to his uncle, who later said Sins did not have permission to have the gun. Matthew Sins was arrested for investigation of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and on multiple warrants for robbery, drugs, identity theft, forgery, and grand theft. Sins was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail and is being held without bail.
