As of yesterday’s (December 1) latest election results, Greg Wallis has taken a twenty vote lead over Christy Holstege in the race to lead California’s State Assembly District 47, which was redistricted after the 2020 election to include Morongo Valley, Yucca Valley and Pioneertown. Holstege, a Democrat, took an early lead, but as votes continue to be counted, Wallis, a Republican has moved ahead. Wallis has 84,647 votes to Holstege’s 84,627.
Twentynine Palms, which is part of State Assembly District 34 and was also impacted by the redistricting, is expected to be represented by Tom Lackey, a Republican, who maintains a 14,000 vote lead over Thurston “Smitty” Smith, also a Republican. California is expected so finish counting and certify votes by December 16.
As of yesterday’s vote count, the close race between Octavious Scott and the incumbent Karmolette O’Gilvie for a city council seat in Twentynine Palms has seen Scott expand his lead, but only by another few votes. Scott is currently leading O’Gilvie 311 to 303.
