There will be all kinds of special events and church services in celebration of Easter this weekend, from Yucca Valley to Twentynine Palms. In addition to activities and church services, Easter egg hunts will be held all over our beautiful springtime Morongo Basin. Reporter David Knutson tells us about the Yucca Valley Easter Egg Hunt……
The Town of Yucca Valley will present its annual Easter Egg Hunt event on Saturday, March 26, at the Yucca Valley Community Center softball field. Every egg will be filled with candy and other fun prizes. All children 8 years old and under can participate with a separate hunt area for each age group. The event will begin at 9 a.m., but early arrival is encouraged. There is no admission charge, but participants must bring their own basket to collect eggs and goodies.
Saturday, March 26, promptly at 9:00 a.m., the sound of the horn will signal the start of the Joshua Tree Community Center’s 49th Annual Egg Hunt. Bring your egg basket or bag to hold your eggs in and arrive by 8:30 to get to your egg hunt area in time. The egg hunt will be divided into six areas from toddlers to sixth grade. Look for the special prize egg. In addition, families can enjoy a pancake breakfast after the egg hunt. Professional photo opportunities will be available with the Easter Bunny.
The Twentynine Palms Fire Department Explorers and 29 Palms Professional Firefighters will host the annual Easter egg hunt Sunday, March 27, at 1:00 p.m. at the Little League fields in Luckie Park. The egg hunt is open to children through age seven. Fire engines will be on display with firefighters and fire explorers available to answer questions about the fire department and fire safety.
Desert Christ Park in Yucca Valley will hold its second annual Easter egg hunt Sunday, March 27, starting at 8 a.m. Eggs will be hidden throughout the park’s sculptures. For more information, call 760-365-3984 or 760-369-4505.
The Friends of the Twentynine Palms Branch Library will host an Eggs-traordinary egg dying and spring craft event on Saturday, March 26, at 1 p.m. Bring your own hard boiled eggs and the Library will provide everything you need to dye and design your own eggs. Drop by the Library Saturday to design an egg unlike any other. The library is located at 6078 Adobe Road.
The Evangelical Free Church of Yucca Valley will hold an Easter sunrise service, Sunday, March 27, at 6:00 a.m. in the Church’s Amphitheater, located at 6804 Mohawk Trail. A free pancake and sausage breakfast will follow for those that attended the service in the gymnasium.
Sky View Chapel Church of God will hold a Good Friday service Friday, March 25, at 6 p.m. It will hold its free annual community egg hunt, for kids ages 2 to 12, Saturday at Friendly Hills Park on Sunny Vista Road starting at 10 a.m. An Easter sunrise service will be held 6 a.m. Sunday, March 27, at the church, followed by a free community breakfast at 7:15, with another service at 9:15.
