COUNTY DOG LICENSING FEES GO UP TOMORROW

The cost of licensing your dog goes up tomorrow in unincorporated San Bernardino County. Reporter Mike Lipsitz says there is a substantial discount for spayed and neutered dogs…
For dog owners in the county’s unincorporated areas, it’s going to cost more to license those dogs beginning July 1. County Care and Control issues licenses throughout Morongo Basin except in Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms, which administer their own programs. County rates for a one-year license of a spayed or neutered dog increase from $12 to $24; seniors and owners with disabilities receive a 50 percent discount. And a license for a dog that has not been fixed will run $96 a year. Residents of Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley are not subject to any rate increases. In Twentynine Palms, it costs $25 to license an altered dog and $43 for an unaltered dog. Yucca Valley’s license fees remain unchanged. They’re posted online at Yucca-Valley.org and will run $9 to license an altered dog, and $40 for an unaltered dog. Both towns offer discounts for seniors and the disabled.
