A registered sex offender who was arrested Thursday, accused of giving two teenage girls alcohol and drugs. About 5:30 p.m. Child Protective Services learned that Randy Myers, 58, a registered sex offender, had given two 14-year-old runaway girls alcohol, marijuana, and methamphetamine over two days at his home in the 1500 block of Shangri-La Lane in north Joshua Tree. One of the girls was hospitalized as a result of a drug and alcohol overdose. Deputy Jacob Naylor went to the home about 6:40 p.m. and found a loaded shotgun; as a convicted felon, Myers is prohibited from owning guns. Randy Myers was arrested for investigation of child abuse, possession of methamphetamine, and being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. Randy Myers was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $100,000.
