A Twentynine Palms man was arrested during a routine traffic stop on Monday (September 26) for suspicion of being a convicted felon in possession of a so-called “ghost” gun and ammunition.

Just before 1 a.m. early Monday morning, County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop for vehicle code violations near the intersection of Highway 62 and Cholla Ave in Twentynine Palms. During the traffic stop, deputies say they found that the vehicles driver, Errol Myers, a 44 year-old resident of Twentynine Palms, was in possession of ammunition and a short barrel AR-15 rifle, and that the rifle was non-serialized and untraceable.

As a convicted felon, Errol Myers was arrested for investigation of being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition by a Prohibited Person, and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail on $50,000 bail.
