The Copper Mountain College Board of Trustees met in regular session yesterday (March 10) in the Community Room of the Bell Center. The meeting began with a celebration for the trustees approved the tenure status of Lorenza DeGuzman and Heidi Gibbons Pieper, as those in attendance were treated to cupcakes in honor of the celebration.

During his monthly update of COVID-19 protocols, Superintendent/President Dr. Daren Otten explained that masks will still be required indoors, pending more guidance from the California Department of Public Health and CAL-OSHA.

Later, CMC Foundation Executive Director Sandy Smith offered reminders about the upcoming Casino Night fundraiser on March 12, tickets for which are available at the Foundation office. She then read a resolution honoring the legacy of Paul Hoffman as part of the college’s ongoing 20th Anniversary celebration. Hoffman, who was in attendance along with his wife Cheryl, served as President of the CMC Foundation from 2001-2003 and as Chairman of the Citizens Oversight Committee.

The trustees also heard a report about the yearly audit of the college, ultimately applauding the positive results of the annual financial inspection and congratulating those involved for the seamless process, despite challenges posed by the pandemic.
