BIGHORN DESERT VIEW WATER AGENCY RESPONDS TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Clearly, it is not business as usual in homes, schools, and businesses across our Morongo Basin. And in what may become the new normal for the foreseeable future, the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency met last night in cyberspace. Reporter Mike Lipsitz was there, sort of, and he files this report…

With the general manager and two directors at the regular board meeting office in Landers, and three other board members and this reporter literally phoning it in, last night’s regular meeting went very smoothly. Five motions, all in response to the encroaching COVID-19 outbreak here, passed unanimously. They included activation of an Emergency Operations and Staffing Plan, approval of a temporary moratorium on service disconnections and late fees, and several other resolutions all aimed limiting exposure of the district’s employees and customers to a pathogen that has brought fear, sickness, and tragedy to tens of thousands as it spreads across the globe.
