A Bakersfield man was arrested in Twentynine Palms early Thursday morning, after a military weapon and ammunition were found in his car. About 2:10 a.m., Deputy Sarah Robles made a traffic stop of Ryan Treece, 28, who was driving a Volkswagen Jetta near Highway 62 and Sunrise Road. Prior to towing the car for an expired registration, Robles conducted a vehicle inventory. Inside the trunk, she found a military mortar rocket, two firearms, and multiple high-caliber military-grade rounds of ammunition. A member from the Sheriff’s Bomb and Arson squad took the mortar and made it safe. Ryan Treece was arrested for investigation of possession of an explosive device and for being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. Treece was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $25,000.
