One of two suspects in an assault with a deadly weapon is alleged to have fled in a truck, hitting a bystander before leading Sheriff’s Deputies on a chase through a residential backyard. On Monday morning (March 6) just after midnight, Deputies responded to a reported assault with a deadly weapon in the 6400 block of Mariposa Ave in Twentynine Palms. When they arrived, Deputies report that a pick up truck fled the scene, hitting a bystander and causing minor injuries.
Deputies pursued the truck, as it drove through a backyard causing a large amount of damage. The driver, identified as Julian Medina, a 20 year-old resident of Twentynine Palms, is said have to have abandoned the truck and then fled on foot before being captured by Deputies.
An investigation revealed that Medina and Dennis Morales, a 49 year-old resident of Twentynine Palms, pointed a realistic looking air rifle at two victims, both identified as residents of Twentynine Palms. Deputies say that one of the victims was able to incapacitate Morales, who remained at the scene of the suspected assault as Medina fled.
Julian Medina and Dennis Morales were arrested on suspicion of multiple felony charges and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail.
