A woman from New Mexico was overcome by the heat and had to be carried out of Joshua Tree National Park Wednesday. A park spokesman said the woman, who was described only as being in her 60s, was hiking with friends on the Boy Scout Trail when she suffered a heat-related illness about 11:45 a.m. Rescuers with the park had to carry her out about three miles to the Indian Cove Ranger Station. She was driven to Hi-Desert Medical Center by a member of her hiking party.
