Three people were trapped in a house fire in Morongo Valley Saturday, but managed to get out safely. Morongo Valley Fire Captain Brennan Gorter told Z107.7 News that firefighters were called to the blaze at North Star Trail and Panorama Drive at 3:44 p.m. with an unknown number of occupants trapped inside. But when firefighters arrived on scene, the three people had gotten out of the house. He added that the fire started in or near a motorhome parked near the home, and the flames spread into the house. The motorhome is a total loss, and Gorter said the house is pretty much a complete loss too.

While the wind was not a factor in fighting the flames, he said the heat was, although no firefighters were injured or required medical attention. Morongo Valley firefighters were assisted by Calfire Yucca Valley, Riverside County, Yucca Valley, and a water tender from Fort Irwin. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
