To help residents rid themselves of unwanted items, the city of Twentynine Palms is partnering with Burrtec Waste and Recycling Services and Twentynine Palms Rotary to host a Community Cleanup Day tomorrow – that’s Saturday, May 1, from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m.

There will be a free trash drop-off site for residents at the Luckie Park Activity Center parking lot, across from Luckie Park, at 74325 Joe Davis Drive. Assistance will be available for unloading larger items.

In addition to large trash bags, accepted items include: scrap metal, appliances, and mixed recycling such as paper, glass, plastic, aluminum, and cardboard. All wood must be shorter than 4 feet long.

No electronics or tires will be accepted and no loaded trailers over 14 feet will be allowed. Household hazardous waste such as motor oil, paint, insecticides, and batteries will also not be accepted.

Meanwhile, the Household Hazardous Waste Collection site is located in Joshua Tree at 62499 Twentynine Palms Highway and open the third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
